Drawing error correction: A Girl In Hip-Hop Outfits [2-2]

Untitled Document
Hey there? I'm your guide Sarah with WIZ.

And, I'm creator/PR officer Hiro-Gecka from WizComic.

This will be the latter half of previous post. See "Drawing error correction - A girl in hip hop outfits - “ if you haven’t.

I hope this drawing helps refresh your memory.
Using the illustration we previously used,
I’m going to explain about how to draw girls' girly hands using step diagrams.

The fingers-to-palm ratio, right?

That’s right. My friends, haven't you felt the length of fingers you draw became too long? Then you should keep this hand proportion mind.

Beginner tend to start drawing detailed outline. Try drawing block objects first.

Set middle finger in center, then draw ring finger, and pinky next. Don’t just copy, don't forget next fingers are different length while drawing.

Oh, oh!
Hold the horses! Isn’t that explanation too briefly? I can’t follow. Like, what degree should the thumb be placed?

No questions. You can’t grasp these kind of things just watching. You’ve got to draw. People who draw well have done these practice over and over again. Hustle to learn. Don’t you feel like getting it from knowing “how to” explanations. You don’t learn anything about drawing unless you draw. Practice, at least once no matter how bad you draw. Practice, that’s everything.

Mmmm, ...understand.

There you are. I added detailed life drawing over blocks.

Ohh! It covers rough guide objects and working perfectly.

You might need to consider fleshiness. Character varies in a thousand ways. Observe hard, and illustrate clearly the final image you want to draw.

Never forget that hands curve.
It means when you look at it from the side, it’s not like a flat board, it’s bending.
Now. One last tip.

Envelope? Like baggies? Like fan, am I right?

Yeah. But forget the logic and grasp the shape image. Of course there are differences according to each individual, But the basic shape is always the same.

***before***

***and after***
Finally! It’s done!

This is the output we get after following my diagram.
If it’s for manga girl, deformation by thinner fingers would be effective.

Thank you! That’s it for now.

We appreciate you reading our two consecutive posts. Send us your illustration for this correction segment!

We look forward to it! Bye!

Drawing error correction: A Girl In Hip-Hop Outfits [1-2]

Hello hello! It’s your guide Sarah.

Hi! I'm creator/PR officer Hiro-Gecka with WizComic. It’s another drawing correction. Before that, I have a great news. We received a happy comment from last contributor “Mon Mon”. Today’s illustration is, again, from my friend Mr. Oimo.

Okay! Cute.

A girl in Hip-hop fashion. He’s drawing this as a gift for his friend. Something seems to be bothering him. Which is about the position of a hand. It’s supposed to be leaning on knee. Well, yes, there are some problems.
I’m going to give as realistic tips as possible. Try imagining the whole body.

“Head size 1 to 1.5 for manga girls”? Eplain.

Be sensitive about this ratio thing here, because if the shoulder is broader than 1.5 times your figure’ll become more like a male.
Applying the shoulder width double check the head size.

So to sum it up, her body is a bit bigger, right?

Exactly. That’s why you have to draw based on head size. If you miscalculate, your pretty figure could end up becoming a macho man...

If both arms are in the air, it doesn’t look good. Try this pose. You’ll feel very unnatural. Maybe you should avoid acrobatic posture for girls, because it should be supported by strong muscles. Hence, this pose is not practical for women. The whole body view.

Uh-huh! The full body look like ...this!

Yep. Keep in mind that how drawn posture in reality is.

Ow, ow, oh no...!

See now? If you try this pose yourself, it’s hard, right?

Very.

Check out the way Mr. Oimo drew the arms one more time. It is possible that way, only if it’s a muscular girl. But still unnatural.

And, when it’s covered with cloth, it looks like this.

I talked with Mr. Oimo about how he wants this outfits to be earlier. it’d also be an issue what outfits you should draw and how. Don’t worry. Ask me!

What’s next? Nn?!

I wanna show you how fabric folds are pulled in. Clothes wrinkles because of gravity. From the basic lines I show, you try to figure out yourself how the rest goes.

Try on your own? That’s not a big help at all.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m kind, but won’t be naïve.

...Fair enough. Still, you’re harsh.

Huh? What do you need?

I’m okay now.

Good.

Now. Another problem. Hands. Review the size and the method.

Drawing hands tutorials! I bet everybody wants to know this so much.

With all due respect, I’ll skip it this time. With too much topics, we lose focus. Maybe next time.

Nn... noooo!!

Tips and Tricks for Eye-catching Designs [2/2]

Sarah:
Hello there! I'm Sarah, a guide of WizComics.

Gecka:
Heya all, illustlator/PR rep Gecka from WizComics.
Welcome to the segment of our drawing error correction.

Sarah:
We are talking about a post from a sender named Mr. Mon-mon.
This will be the latter half so if you haven't read the first part,
better go check the page below.

Tips and Tricks for Eye-catching Designs [1/2]

Gecka:
If you already have read the first half,
let's contine, shall weeee!

Gecka:
Do you want to place her face right in the center?

"Of course I draw her in there.
A raised elbow and a head of cat ear girl on the right
and a hat on the left.
Also, I have to deselect the 'dead space'.
Then here is the best space for her face."

Have you ever considered of eye movement from a logical perspective?
How human eyes look at this picture will improve your drawing.
I'm gonna tell you about it.

Gecka:
I think most of you would draw like this without reviewing anew.
It clearly seems easy that way.

Sarah:
But it's wrong, right?
But how wrong? It seems to fit best.

Gecka:
Hold on. Let me show you something.
This will explain better.

Sarah:
Well...
A vertical line. A dividing line. I see a line.

Gecka:
Okay, Next.

Sarah:
Come on, tell me. What's your point?

Gecka:
Don't rush. I'll explain after one more image.
I need you to remember the impression you got.

Gecka:If those two are designed in exactly the same pose and making mirror image or back to back image, that could make a good, eye-catching graphic. That’s how it should be.
Sarah:
Well...
It’s difficult to say “enjoyable”.
In fact, other two on the sides are drawn in different poses,
which I feel nice.

Gecka:
You’re right.
Okay. I’ll tell you why I draw the line like this.
This line is an optical flow of eye-movement in this picture
that we draw unconsciously.

Sarah: F-flow??

Gecka:
Pareidolia has it that we human commonly perceive images  human faces out of ambiguous visual information like wallpaper pattern.
Same kinds of optical illusions are said to be happening all the time when you see things.

Sarah:
Wow. That’s interesting.

Gecka:
Look. The center position of the girl’s face
and the top of his head to neck... eventually his spine is on the same line.
What happens then to our eyes is,
we get the whole picture of the figure while watching point to point.

Sarah:
Oh. Oh.
Then, then this line describe the consequences!

Gecka:
That’s why I said it’s not enjoyable.

Gecka:
These items can be quite useful in this composition
when they’re blown by the wind.
The wind can enhance the expressions such as woman’s sorrow and agony.
There is one more thing, which is very important, regarding wind around her.
But let me tell you one more thing.
Check out the drawing one more time.

Gecka:
I created this eye-movement flow on purpose.
I’m making it inducible.
Okay. Simulation! Let’s start!

Gecka:Here is how it goes. Starting from the sword, to his face.
Then your eyes capture the elbow of a guy behind, and goes to his face,
catch another face close and move there,
which is stretching her arms in the air, so you look upward through it,
and, finally, to the girl.

Sarah:
Wow. That’s how it goes, huh.

Gecka:
Most of you would end up going along this route,
either where you start.
Why? Because I setup the path that way.
Also, it’s unrhythmical, deliberately.
That way it can keep people’s eyes longer.

Okay now.
Your eye-flow comes to the end.
And that’s it? Nope.
It’s leading to another great effect.
Check it out!

Gecka:
A line around the woman’s sholder.
The lines her blowing hair and veil makes.
Can you see what another effect is now?

Yes. Your eyes are on the starting point again.

Sarah:
I’m surprised! Did you draw her hair, her shoulders, veil...
everything setup for this?

Gecka:
Yeah. I draw with my feeling first, but if it’s not effective,
I would change those lines anytime.
Logical drawing is the basic, that’s the rule.
To be honest,
if you draw freely without follow the basics,
you’ll waste great time, you’ll get lost sooner or later.
In that practical aspect, it’s better to learn basics.

Sarah:
Sigh...
Your talk is getting incomprehensibleee!

Gecka:
Now my infinite looper has complete!
Your drawing with this composition will keep encouraging viewer’s eyes move.
And people’d feel it ”fun”. That make your drawing an eye-catching piece!

Gecka:
My logical looper! Nice, huh?

 Sarah:
An-An... infinite looper?!?
I never dreamed of such thing up until no

Gecka:
“Infinite” is overexpression though.
But it
can buy longer time before people get bored.
Longer than center-lined composition.

Sarah:
Indeed... I mean, wow!

  Gecka:
I almost forgot about “dead space’. Ha-ha.

Sarah:
Would you like to continue, quickly?
Thanks!

Gecka:
There’s no problem.
I have avoided dead space successfully.

Sarah:
Oh, good to know.
But, even they’re just samples... what a stupid headings!

Gecka:
If you get the feeling of it, that’ll be fine.
Do we understand each other?

Sarah:
